The MAG Convention 2018 will take place at the Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky Center of the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv, Ukraine. The Sheptytsky Center is located at the contemporary university campus - a center of research in the humanities and social sciences.
The new campus provides a high-quality intellectual, religious and social environment for students and teachers and the citizens of Lviv. It is a place where a new generation of young people is bringing up, people who will be able to meet today’s practical challenges and develop themselves while at the same time putting principles of social responsibility into action.
"Architecturally, it was interesting for us to rethink the role of a library in the university of the 21st century. A traditional understanding of library defines it as a big storage area for books, where students could go and read, do research, most often, individually. With the development of electronic media and technologies for more and more universities, libraries become broader centers for learning and communication. The library of the new age is a place where people work and study together. The library is less about the pure storage of books, it is more about a place of communication. However, books continue to symbolize knowledge, the essence of a library." - a main architect Stefan Behnisch (read a full interview with Mr.Behnisch)
